Collectible chess sets are generally highly ornamental sets with distinctive themes, plus are often made from unconventional materials such as gold or silver. If it is actually large or small, it most likely is not sensible for actual play and may be a collectible. If you are considering joining a chess club or getting into actual tournament play, these decorative, collectible sets might not be sensible plus aren’t counseled to play on. The accepted medium for this type of play is vinyl mats and standard pieces, therefore if you show up with a solid gold “Knights of the Round Table” set, there are likely to be more than just some questions. Â
