Kicking back with a glass of wine at the end of a hard day is lots of peoples idea of heaven. It’s not so fun however having to clean the glass afterwards, especially when trying to get them smudge and smear free. If you want to ruin your glasses after a few uses then stick them in the dishwasher, but if you want to preserve their quality, what are your top choices?
By hand. You could always choose to wash your glassware by hand in some warm soapy water. This will get them clean but often this leaves them with water smears and a soapy taste when you next come to use them. Additionally, if you place them on a rack to dry they often get left with a layer of soap scum around on the lip.
Glass cloth. These little things really are amazing and do not cost all that much either. Made from microfibre technology, the cloths do not do any damage to the glass and remove almost all substances. A great quality is that unlike most other cloths, they are free from fluff and or fibre shedding. They can also be used on all glasses and dinnerware, from whisky glasses to crystal jugs, and when they get dirty themselves you can stick them in the washing machine and they’ll come out brand new.
Glass cleaning balls. For wine enthusiasts who like the latest innovations, there is always the option of the amazing cleaning metal ball bearings. The little balls are made of stainless steel and can be used again and again. They work in combination with a little water int he bottom of the glass and by swirling them around the glass with you hand over the top, they will remove all dirt, grime and lint within 30 seconds. The balls can then be run under some water to remove the dirt from them and used time and again. These are particularly good for cleaning things like glass vases and decanters, where it’s not always easy to get to the deep areas of the bowl by hand or brush.
