Candle Making – How to Get Going

As the art of making candles has been around for over a millenium, don’t be surprised if it last for a couple more. What was once a night time requisite in order to be able to see is now something people want for pleasure and to create pure enjoyment.

Learning How to Make Candles is something that is being passed down from parent to child with each new generation. Making wax candles on your own may be easy but completing it also brings about an amazing sense of completion. Behold your very special candle, one you’ve personally molded from the very start!

Your local craft store will be able to furnish all the items needed to make wax candles. To start with, you’ll require wicks, beeswax, and lastly, molds. You will have the other required items on hand as they are ordinary household gadgets.

With the recent interest in candle making, craft suppliers now stock many candle accessories. For example, wonderful fragrances, interesting decorations and attractive colors.

For this project, your work starts with preparing your wax. This is done by using a double boiler for melting the wax. After wax is completely melted, put the wick in its place & pour the wax in the mold that has been prepared.

Allow six hours cooling time before attempting to remove your candle from its mold. Put the mold in your freezer for an hour & the candle will release easier from the mold. You can also spray the mold with cooking oil to facilitate mold release.

A few people have even gone as far as creating their own mold-making methods such as utilizing special liquid latex.

A lot of individuals have been able to turn candlemaking into a home based business. Entrepreneurs like them have the foresight of turning their pastime into a profitable endeavor. Even part time candle making is a skillful way to make extra income.

Beeswax Candle Making Recipes

Supplies include: 1 pair of sheers, 1 sheet of beeswax along with 1 cotton wick.

Instructions? Just as easy!

Be gentle as you wind the beeswax edge around its wick—do not stop till it’s permanently sealed. The heat of your hands will soften the wax enough to assist in seaming the wax candle

• Follow through by rolling candle wax slowly, all the while being sure it is straight and tight

• Upon reaching the end of your wax sheet, the heat of your fingertips will be able to meld the edge to your wax candle

• Snip the cotton wick flush at the base, while cutting the wick on top part of the candle to about 1/4 inch
